Did you know we’ve lost 5,644 free-to-use cash machines across the country in just 12 months? [1] It’s because the big banks and card companies are chasing bigger profits, and - worse still - because until now the government’s stood by and let it happen.
Most people rely on cash every day. [2] Positive Money believes people should be able to access their own money for free, not have to pay for the privilege. |

This election is our opportunity to persuade whoever makes up the next government to stop free cash machines closing. While running for election, politicians are trying to get as many votes as possible. So if thousands of us contact our MP candidates now, together we can show them this is a vote-deciding issue.

11% of free-to-use cash machines have shut down due to bank lobbying in the past year. But for the UK to have a functioning and fair economy, we need a money system that’s free and open to everyone, not plagued with barriers and inequalities.
Positive Money believes we need much more democracy in our economy - so that it works for everyone. That’s why thousands of us fought to keep RBS in public hands and why we’re pushing for much more transparency at the Bank of England. [3] As our only true form of public money left, protecting cash and coins must be our next goal. [4]
With less than two weeks to go until the election, we don’t have long. John, please will you make sure your local politicians know this is an issue their voters care about? |

Past governments haven’t done enough to protect our free access to our money. Let’s make sure the next one does.
