Who doesn't love a road trip?!
People First is not just a slogan, it's our mission.
Last week, Team Nevada piled into a car and embarked on a 4-day, 11-stop listening tour across rural Nevada.
They went to the people who are hurting most, the people who all too often feel left behind, to hear them speak on the lack of vital resources in their communities. At every stop, locals commonly spoke on the absence of quality healthcare access, proper education funding and the need for expansive updates to infrastructure.
• In Tonopah, people are driving 1.5 hours to the nearest hospital in Hawthorne.
• In Pahrump, the local high school is not accredited.
• In Lovelock, aging communities are forced to decide between healthcare and food.
In all of these communities, infrastructural issues largely cut off their access to essential resources. Imagine trying to receive emergency healthcare without proper roads or electricity lines.
This trip was about uplifting voices and putting People First. We will visit places often overlooked by other candidates to hear about the issues that matter to your family. You continue to inspire us to keep developing comprehensive policy platforms that address your needs and your experiences.
A big thank you to everyone that came out to share their stories with us!
