[Demand more for mental health]([link removed])
Help us sustain our momentum in demanding [#MoreForMentalHealth]([link removed]) by joining AFSP at our annual Advocacy Forum from 3 to 5 p.m. ET on Tuesday, June 7.
The event, which will be broadcast live to viewers across the country on our [Facebook page]([link removed]) and[YouTube channel]([link removed]) (both at @AFSPnational), is an opportunity for mental health advocates to connect with federal lawmakers and urge them to prioritize suicide prevention and mental health policies that we know can save lives.
At the Advocacy Forum, you’ll hear from members of Congress, professional athletes, mental health advocates, and leading experts representing emergency medicine and mental health organizations. You’ll also hear how volunteer Field Advocates like Nancy Farrell, who lost her brother to suicide, are making a difference. In a [recent article on AFSP’s Real Stories blog]([link removed]), Nancy wrote:
“Elected officials are just like us: they have families and illnesses. Some are suicide loss survivors and others have family members with lived experience. Telling our stories advances legislation we need to secure more accessible and affordable mental health care…you have a story to share, as I do, and people will listen. Your story is the opening to an ongoing conversation with your representatives.”
