John -- After a long, nail-biting night, the race for Texas’ 28th congressional district remains too close to call. While Cuellar has declared victory, no media outlet has called the race, citing mail-in ballots and provisional ballots that remain to be counted.

 

This race was far too close. Conservative dark money groups dumped millions in attack ads against Jessica, spreading lies about her policies and misleading voters about the 17-year incumbent, Henry Cuellar.
 
There may be a few steps happening next. The Cisneros campaign may call for a recount, as they are entitled to do under Texas election law. The remaining provisional and mail-in ballots may swing the vote back in her favor – just as we saw in FL-20 for the election Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick won by five votes.
