Fast food and soda giants aren't just hiding what's in the food and drinks
we consume -- they want to hide their political donations and lobbying
too!

McDonald's is in 120 countries, but outside of the US it says almost
nothing about how it tries to influence political decisions. That means it
can spend on political campaigns, fund research, lobby to change health
policy...all without anyone knowing!

A group of shareholders wants to change this across the industry --
starting with the McDonald's shareholder meeting *this Thursday*. They're
asking for our help to get as many signers as possible on their petition
to up the pressure on major institutional shareholders -- can you join?

These companies hold huge sway over everything from what kids eat at
school, to whether essential workers get paid sick leave...or how the
world's food systems can withstand a pandemic. And we know they have a
TERRIBLE record on these issues.

But despite their massive influence, we can see very little of what the
industry spends to steer public policy and politics.

That's why our partners at Corporate Accountability are leading the
charge, calling on the world's largest food and beverage companies -- like
McDonald's and soda giant Coca-Cola and Pepsi Co -- to open their books on
their global political spending and activities.

Given their reach, this is a necessary and momentous step. With
transparency, we have a fighting chance to curb their toxic influence. But
it won't happen if we can't get as many shareholders as possible on board.
