I’m shaking. I’m just shaking all over. With fear. With anger. With resolve.

19 kids and two teachers are dead in an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas. We have another Sandy Hook on our hands. Another community that will never be the same. My heart is with them.

As soon as I heard the news, I went to deliver a message to my colleagues and beg them to take action because, if we don’t, I simply cannot explain what the hell we are doing here. Why would you spend all this time running for the Senate and then choose to do nothing while the slaughter continues?

I want to share what I said with you and ask you to support organizations at the forefront of the fight to change our gun laws and save lives.

Defenders of the status quo complain that we shouldn’t organize in the wake of mass shootings. But how can’t we? We need to build a movement that will allow us to eventually elect leaders who will stand up to protect our kids. It’s our duty to mobilize - today and every single day.

The epidemic levels of gun violence in this country are a uniquely American problem. None of this is inevitable. If we act.
