[1]Mark Kelly for Senate

Friends —

Like me, like Gabby, you’re probably infuriated today.

For good reason.

It is infuriating that we’ve come to expect the federal government will do nothing to stop the murder of schoolchildren, or of mothers, fathers, sisters, and brothers at a grocery store — or any of the countless other horrific tragedies that have become so commonplace in our country.

Many of you know that my own family has been impacted by gun violence. I know how helpless it can feel, but I have no idea how it must feel to lose a child. That’s a pain no one should have to live through, but one that is felt by so many.

There are a million reasons why we should come together to pass common sense reforms to reduce gun violence that align with our rights and traditions. Reforms that are supported by Americans across the political spectrum. But we only need one:

Because it’s the right thing to do. For our children, and for our grandchildren, it is the right thing to do.

This is a problem unique to our country, and you’re right to demand action from Washington.

I promise you I will.

With you in this fight,

Mark + Gabby
