Alphabet Soup: A Comparison of ISSB's Climate Exposure Draft and the SEC Proposed Rule

A proposed rule on climate-related disclosures, known as the Climate Exposure Draft, has just been published by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB)—which is part of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Foundation. There are many similarities with the recently proposed mandatory climate-disclosure rule from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), such as its use of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) recommendations, but there are also some key differences. Join Ceres and US SIF as we talk through the alphabet soup of key players involved with the ISSB’s proposed rule and its larger implications. Follow

Joan Bavaria was a pioneer of social investing, using her vision and passion to help catalyze change in the capital markets. Among other endeavors, she founded Trillium Asset Management and Ceres; her influence is still reflected by their efforts today. In 2008, Ceres and Trillium Asset Management created the Joan Bavaria Award in Joan's honor, after she lost her prolonged battle with cancer. The award is presented annually by Ceres and Trillium Asset Management to recognize a unique investor or NGO leader who is working to transform the capital markets into a system that balances economic prosperity with social and environmental concerns.
