Local businesses drive the future...
During the event at NG2 Business Park, a number of local businesses took an accompanied test-drive in a range of electric vehicles before they then were given the chance to loan an electric van for 30 days to test its performance in their own fleets.?
Far-UK who were at the event said: ?We were blown away during our 20-mins test-drive, the Electric Van Experience was very insightful, educational, and exciting. We learnt so much about the benefits of your EV Scheme, including the 30-days fully-insured EV loan,? and your future plans to create similar opportunities that aims to promote more EV, Green (Renewable) Culture across the city?.
?With the ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel vehicles brought forward to 2030, we want to support businesses to plan ahead. Electric vehicles are the future, but we understand that making the switch is still a big decision.
?The idea is for firms to experience the benefits of an electric van for themselves before making any commitment. This isn?t available through dealerships or manufacturers, so it?s a unique opportunity and key to addressing the barriers that businesses face with electrifying fleets?.
Councillor Sally Longford,
Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Energy and the Environment, Nottingham City Council.

Lezli Hall, Property Manager, Castle Cavendish, added;??We took part in EVE and tried out a Toyota Proace 100% electric van. Becoming more economically and environmentally sustainable is important to our business. The Electric Van Experience was helpful to get a feel for how electric vans perform and the type and size of vans we needed and helped us make the decision to invest in an electric van for our property maintenance services. We are looking forward to taking delivery of our own van in the near future.?
The Electric Van Experience is open to private and public sector businesses and organisations to participate at no cost to the business, apart from a nominal administration fee, dependant on the size of the company.
2022/23 is the final year that this scheme will be available so visit the EVE webpage to express your interest now.?
Funded by National Highways and delivered as part of the authority?s Workplace Travel Service, EVE was launched a year ago and enables companies to see how making the switch to electric vans could be the right move financially and environmentally.?
