Dear John,
I was honored to be one of three witnesses brought to D.C. by the Campaign to Save the Boundary Waters to speak today in support of Representative Betty McCollum’s Boundary Waters Protection bill.
Your generosity and support made it possible for us to be here today, but the fight is far from over. There are just over 24 hours left in our match. Rush a donation today [[link removed]] to double your impact and help us continue to advocate for the Wilderness in Washington, D.C.

I, along with my fellow witnesses, each bring expert and passionate pleas to protect the Boundary Waters to our nation’s capital. As a small business owner in Ely, MN, I highlighted the way of life for communities that depend on a pristine and healthy Boundary Waters for not just their business but for the people who live in the region.
People come north for the quiet, the solitude and the scenery… all that we cherish is threatened by sulfide ore copper mining. This is an open assault on OUR way of life, and I speak in support of HR 2794 protecting the Boundary Waters watershed from pollution.
Former U.S. Forest Service Chief Tom Tidwell also spoke, drawing on his perspective from a 41-year career at the Forest Service:
Permanent protection for the headwaters of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (Boundary Waters) is the right thing to do for both present and future generations and is in line with the science and decades of established law.

Finally, Julia Ruelle, board member of Kids for the Boundary Waters closed with a passionate plea for the next generation:
Our generation will have to deal with the ramifications of the choices the people in this room will make. We would like to inherit the pristine and transformative Wilderness enjoyed by generations before us.
Our coalition will not stop until the Boundary Waters is protected forever. Make a donation today [[link removed]] so we can permanently protect the Boundary Waters once and for all.

P.S. Today is only the beginning and our Campaign paddles on. We still need to get this bill passed in the House and Senate, which is no small feat. Donate today to keep us fighting for the Wilderness! [[link removed]]
