Today, our country is yet again facing the grim reality that has become commonplace in America: Another school shooting; another community devastated by gun violence; another day of wondering about America’s fascination with firearms and whispering “thoughts and prayers.”

Most Republicans want us to believe that the answer to stopping gun violence in this country is more firearms. That’s just not true, but the Republican blinders are on because the NRA is paying them handsomely.

Just days after the last major school shooting in Oxford, Michigan, my opponent Chuck Grassley went on the Senate floor and BLOCKED a bill requiring universal background checks for gun purchases. You cannot make this up.

I’m running for Senate against Chuck Grassley because I’m done with Republicans kowtowing to the NRA and caring more about their campaign donations than the lives of our children.
