After Hurricane Harvey, Congress sent federal disaster funds for the most impacted Texas communities, including Houston and TX-07.
Unfortunately, the General Land Office and Land Commissioner George P. Bush disregarded Congressional intent and allocated the funds to other communities at less risk for natural disasters — possibly for Bush’s personal political gain.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development concluded the General Land Office violated federal law by diverting funds from vulnerable communities. .
This is not how government should work. Disaster relief should be distributed based on need — not politics. Culberson fought to secure this relief for the Texans who need it the most so our communities can heal and mitigate destruction from future storms. |
