Friends,
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Our NewDem members know the severity of the mental health crisis affecting Americans of all backgrounds, which is why they endorsed a slate of legislation to tackle mental health issues with impactful policy.
NewDems recently endorsed legislation like the Supporting Children’s Mental Health Care Access Act – which will help address the children’s mental health care crisis due to the pandemic, and the Mainstreaming Addiction Treatment Act – which increases access to life-saving addiction medicine by eliminating bureaucratic hurdles.
Our members’ number one priority has been to break the gridlock in Washington and to find commonsense solutions that will improve the lives of Americans. That’s why they endorsed 22 bipartisan bills to address the mental health crisis. So we want to know: Do you support our work to prioritize mental health?
Mental health is not a partisan issue. And with the increased barriers to quality care due to the pandemic, it’s taking a devastating toll on our communities.
Mental Health Month gives all of us the opportunity to reflect on the strides we’ve made as a nation, but also reminds us of the tremendous work that lies ahead to ensure we provide support to those suffering from mental health and substance use disorders.
Do you support our work to make mental health care a priority in Congress? Let us know now.
Thank you for your input,
NewDems
