Art has always informed my work and my values.

I look forward to sharing the curated collection of social justice and health justice-themed artwork with you at Breast Cancer Action’s virtual community gathering and art auction, Drawing the Connections, on June 14th at 4pm PT / 6pm CT / 7pm ET. ([link removed])

All of the artwork in this collection is on point, and I want to share a few of my favorites with you! Check out these pieces and then grab your free ticket to the event! Shelley Zentner - “Reconstructed” (24x18 work on paper, unframed)

Shelley’s evolving style is deeply rooted in the Welsh tradition of art that is dark, dramatic, and filled with poetry. Specializing in oils and charcoal, her work can be described as narrative impressionist realism. She began figure drawing at age 11, staged her first exhibition as a professional artist at 20, and became a gallery owner at 25. After a career hiatus that involved burn out, traveling, falling in love, becoming a mother, teaching art and surviving cancer, Shelley has now resumed her status as a full-time artist.

Shelley works and lives with her family in Lake Tahoe, California.

Denis Englander – “Shanghai” (16x20 aluminum borderless print)

Born in 1947 in California and raised and currently living in San Francisco, Denis has been playing with photography since the ‘70s. He reaps a lot of pleasure from a full spectrum of captured memories.

Photography increased his awareness of the world around him while offering many areas for discovery, self-expression, and the creation of rich friendships. In addition to North America, Denis has also photographed in Western Europe, China, and Japan. His favorite photography genres, in both color and black & white, include: Street, Landscape, Portrait, Architecture, Abstract, Still Life, Travel, Macro, Sports, and ICM (intentional camera movement). Whatever catches his eye might become a memorable image.

Bonnie Neumann – “Untitled” 10x10 (work on paper, unframed)

Bonnie Neumann has an MFA from Mills College and has been making art in the Bay Area for over 30 years. Her work has been exhibited in museums and galleries nationally and internationally.

Her work is in the art collections of the US Embassy in Tunis, Tunisia, Stanford University Medical Center in Palo Alto, CA, the Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula in Monterey, CA, the Sequoia Consulting Group of San Mateo in San Mateo, CA and the Ellington Condominium Complex in Oakland, CA, as well as in numerous private collections.
