The numbers are staggering, I can barely believe it. But new data from the FBI paints a deadly picture: Active shooter incidents have increased 96.8% since 2017, rising 52.5% from 2022-2021.
And it’s really no coincidence that these are the same years that Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell did the gun lobby’s bidding, blocking any progress on gun violence prevention – and their deadly inaction has brought us to a pinnacle of violence. It’s why Brady worked so hard to put gun violence prevention champions in office and we need to hold them accountable now, more than ever.
We can’t let Congress continue to sit idly by while active shooter incidents continue to increase. One critical move the Senate can make is expanding and strengthening Brady background checks and they can do it right now.
