It’s been a couple of weeks since the news broke that there are 5 votes on the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade and eviscerate the right to abortion. If you’re anything like me, you’ve spent a lot of that time on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or even TikTok looking for news of leaders fighting back — and I hope this email will provide some.
Last week, a coalition of state abortion advocacy organizations in 11 red, blue, and purple states announced its support for Supreme Court expansion as a necessary step towards protecting abortion access.

These state advocates are on the frontlines every day defending abortion access in communities across the country — including in places like Ohio, Missouri, and Texas, where people have already been dealing with the hardships of a post-Roe reality for quite some time. And they all agree: passing legislation to safeguard abortion is essential, but no longer enough. To protect abortion access, we need a Court that won’t overturn that legislation, and that means we must also expand the Supreme Court.
