A week ago, our team was tracking six states where the congressional map was still in flux ahead of the midterm elections.

Now we’re down to just New Hampshire, Florida, and Louisiana.

We’ve seen big shifts in the map landscape the past week. But the fight for fair maps – and fair elections – isn’t over. With three states left to finalize their congressional maps before the midterms, will you chip in $3 today? [[link removed]]

Take a look at the states that are still in play before the 2022 midterms:

New Hampshire : We are just one week out from the deadline for lawmakers to agree on a map before the state Supreme Court intervenes.

Florida : The standoff between Gov. DeSantis’ gerrymandered map and the more fair court-drawn map is still ongoing. The difference between these maps boils down to the configuration of just one district – but the impacts of the gerrymandered map on Black voters in northern Florida would be far reaching.

Louisiana : We’re waiting to hear a judge’s ruling on whether the state’s congressional map violates the Voting Rights Act.

But don’t forget – states like Alabama and Texas might be required to redraw their maps after the elections.

It’s not ideal that some voters will be casting ballots using gerrymandered maps this year. But a fair map in 2023 or even 2024 is better than waiting until 2031.

That’s why we need your help. As we plan for the next phase of this work, we need to know that we have the support of grassroots donors – people like you who care about fair and representative elections.

Let us know that we can count on you by making a grassroots donation.
