This month, the House passed the Ukraine Comprehensive Debt Payment Relief Act, Chuy’s bill to provide Ukraine with much-needed debt relief.
As Ukraine faces Russian aggression, it can’t afford to waste money paying back international debts while it struggles to defend itself, support its people, and rebuild. Ukraine owes more than $20 billion to international institutions including almost $15 million a month. Chuy’s bill will go a long way toward easing its financial burden at this critical moment.
Passing it through the House is an important step forward and a clear sign of solidarity with the Ukrainian people. I’m proud to be on the team of the man leading this fight.
