Legal Abortions are a Human Right
We were dismayed and alarmed to see the leaked Supreme Court draft opinion to overturn Roe v. Wade. The right to safe and legal abortions should not be up for debate. The effect of this change will have devasting impacts on the most vulnerable communities, including human trafficking survivors. Survivors have already had to deal with traffickers taking away their bodily autonomy. They should not have to face the same from the government. FNUSA will continue to support Roe v. Wade and uplift pro-choice activists.
FNUSA Files Amicus Brief in Support of Forced Labor Survivors
FNUSA joined Global Labor Justice- International Labor Rights Forum to file an amicus brief calling for robust protection for survivors of forced labor. In the case of Keo Ratha, et al. v. Phattana Seafoods, Co. Ltd. et al, the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the district court's ruling in favor of the defendants because the company ultimately failed to financially benefit from the sale of goods produced by forced labor. The Court's misreading of the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act undermines the U.S. Government’s comprehensive strategy to eliminate human trafficking and impedes remedies for victims of forced labor.
