John,

Thousands of American military families lost everything in Iraq just so
George W. Bush’s friends — Big Oil, Wall Street, and defense contractors —
could rake in billions.

They lied to start the war. They lied to keep us at war. And I know,
because I was there.

brutal invasion of Iraq.'

I led a team of Marines training Iraqi security forces to defend their
country. When I arrived, I received a “stoplight” chart on their supposed
capabilities in dozens of missions and responsibilities.

Green = Good. Yellow = Needs improvement. Red = They couldn’t do it at
all.

On paper, everything looked great — but then I started working with them.
It was a disaster. I tried to adjust the charts to reflect reality, but
got shut down. Ratings couldn't go down. DC needed “progress.” Lies like
that kept the war going — and it was a culture from the top.

We sacrificed 4,000+ American soldiers and trillions of dollars so we
could fight, die, and "nation build" in Iraq. But even to this day, the
criminals who led us there continue to lie about their real goals: Big
profits for Big Oil, defense contractors, lobbyists, and even members of
Congress who owned stock.

Bipartisan majorities in Congress and presidents from both parties
sacrificed trillions of dollars and thousands of lives to keep us in these
forever wars — all while telling us we can’t afford to invest even a
fraction of that same amount into our country here at home.

While everyday Americans have been fighting, dying, and building up
someone else’s country who doesn’t even want us there, our politicians
have been selling us out here at home. They let giant multinational
corporations buy up our land, ship away our jobs, and strip our
communities for parts. And with each new conflict, we rely more and more
on giant corporations who turn death and devastation into profit at every
opportunity.

It’s time for this broken status quo to come to an end. We can’t let the
same crooks and liars who got us into these pointless wars continue
calling the shots in Congress. That’s why I’m running for U.S. Senate.
It’s time for a people-powered movement to fight back.

[ [link removed] ]So please, will you add a donation of any amount to my grassroots
campaign today? I don’t take a cent from corporate PACs, federal
lobbyists, or any other corrupt elite determined to strip our country for
parts — so anything you’re able to contribute means the world to me.
