It’s about more than redwoods

Dear Jack,
I know we all are busy, but I thought it was important to make sure you saw Adrianna’s email and had a chance to join the chorus of voices sharing how much the potential acquisition of Atkins Place means to all of us at the League — especially me as the Director of Land Protection.
Atkins Place will buffer the old-growth groves of Montgomery Woods State Nature Preserve, a stunning landscape teeming with life, from the red-bellied newt to Coho salmon.
By securing this next piece of the puzzle in Northern California, we are strengthening an ecosystem that can thrive into the future.
Rush your gift today to keep us on track to protect Atkins Place! [[link removed]]
Thanks for pitching in! Every little bit helps us protect more redwood forests like Atkins Place

Subject: A redwood oasis worth protecting
Hello Jack,
When I think back to those amazing summers when my dad and I explored Humboldt Redwoods State Park together, hiking and biking among the big trees, it’s no wonder life eventually brought me here to Save the Redwoods League.
As the Land Protection Manager, I am privileged to have found my calling in helping to protect the redwoods.
I feel so lucky to be part of the team that continues the League’s proud legacy of protecting the world’s most iconic forests—a team that includes generous friends like you who make our work possible in the first place. Thank you for all you do!
Right now, we have a chance to acquire a piece of land called Atkins Place, 453 acres that we hope will one day provide increased public access to the beautiful Montgomery Woods State Natural Preserve in Northern California.
What I love most about Atkins Place are the views. The centerpiece of the property is a stunning ridgeline. When you climb up, you’re treated to sweeping views: The South Fork of the Big River anchoring the landscape, and redwood-studded hillsides in all directions.
Make a gift today and help us stay on track with our $1.3 million fundraising goal to protect Atkins Place. [[link removed]]
Atkins Place buffers the old growth of Montgomery Woods, a truly unique place on the eastern edge of the redwood range. Most times I visit, I’m coming from Ukiah, which is hot and dry in the summer.
It’s incredible to suddenly drop down into the little oasis of the preserve and find myself immersed in a lush landscape, among humongous old redwoods.
This is your chance to help us write the League’s next chapter at Montgomery Woods, a story that began in 1947 when Robert Orr made a small nine-acre donation of land to first establish the reserve.
Make your gift today: Even now plays a critical role in the long-term health of our old-growth forests. [[link removed]]
Our hope is that this purchase will one day open new access points to the public — so you can see these views for yourself.
Thank you for your investment in the old-growth of the future.

P.S. Your fellow redwood supporters have already helped kick-off this fundraising effort with tremendous support. Will you join them to be part of this purchase? [[link removed]]
