Women's Health Protection Act Signs

At a time when the global trend for reproductive rights is moving towards liberalization of abortion laws, the United States has once again failed to pass the Women's Health Protection Act, federal legislation that would protect abortion access. Elsewhere, the Center for Reproductive Rights released a crucial new report on medication abortion in Asia and was recognized for its work on gender equality in the Philippines.

U.S. Senate Fails to Pass Abortion Rights Legislation

In the wake of a leaked draft U.S. Supreme Court opinion that indicated the Court may be on the verge of overturning Roe v. Wade, the U.S. Senate failed to advance the Women's Health Protection Act (WHPA). It is clear we need federal legislation to protect abortion access across the country.

Colorado Protects Abortion Access

Colorado Governor Jared Polis signed the Reproductive Health Equity Act (RHEA), which protects access to abortion care in the state. Colorado becomes the twenty-second state—plus the District of Columbia—with abortion rights protections.

New Report Launched on the State of Medication Abortion in Asia

The Center celebrated International Women's Day on March 8 by hosting an event in Nepal and launching an important fact sheet that outlines the existing public health standards including medical and self-managed abortions in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, and Sri Lanka.
