Dear
John
--
Representation truly does matter.
As we
near the end of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, I
am thinking about the AAPI Congressmembers and local and state
officials across the country who we have seen fighting against
anti-Asian hate over the past two years, just like we have been in
Michigan.
I am thinking about the fierce advocacy I see from
my fellow AAPI state legislators across the nation, working toward
curriculum that includes Asian American history just like I have been
in Michigan.
And I know that without our presence at state
capitols and the nation's capitol, the outcomes and the conversation
would be much different.
In Michigan, we have a
historic opportunity this year to triple the number of Asian American
Democratic state senators -- from one to three!
I have known my friends Rep. Padma Kuppa and former House
Democratic Leader Sam Singh for over sixteen years. They are both
incredibly smart, hardworking, tough, effective leaders who have
strong ties within the Asian American and Pacific Islander community.
I am doing all I can to support both their campaigns for the State
Senate because their races are critical to winning a Democratic
majority and because I know they will do an amazing job serving our
state -- all while proudly representing the AAPI community.
Humbly,
P.S. Here's the link to make a split donation
to help support Padma Kuppa, Sam Singh, and me during AAPI Heritage
Month. Thank you again!
