At every single one of my public events, I start by introducing Rebecca to the crowd.

Rebecca usually sits near the back of the room, setting up a small video camera before I take questions from voters about why I’m running against Chuck Grassley for the U.S. Senate.

Sometimes Joey shows up as well, but always Rebecca. You could say she’s my most loyal attendee. Because she’s paid by the Republicans to be there – to follow me around, taking video of every single thing I say and do.

That’s what running for public office looks like these days. Someone recording every word you say so that the GOP can later cut it up into an attack ad or spin it into some fake scandal on the Fox News propaganda network.

Rebecca has been following me around for months taking video, while Mitch McConnell has been raising millions into Super PACs to fund the TV ads that are coming.

There’s a simple reason why: Senate control is at stake here in Iowa. If I defeat Chuck Grassley and turn Iowa blue, Democrats are guaranteed to protect our majority in the Senate. And the polls show we can do it!

I’m about to be facing millions in attack ads, and the only way I’ll be able to fight back and win is with help from grassroots donors like you. We’ve set a goal of raising another $15,000 before midnight to send Grassley packing, but right now we are still very short with time running out.
