🚨 TASB To Exit National School Group 🚨

• The Texas Association of School Boards is set to leave its parent organization, the National School Board Association, according to records obtained by Texas Scorecard. Brandon Waltens was the first to report the story last night.
     
• The National School Board Association made headlines last year following their letter to President Joe Biden and U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland requesting federal intervention in local school board meetings and referring to concerned parents as “domestic terrorists.”
      
• It has since been revealed that the NSBA leadership urged the Biden Administration to deploy military forces so as to effort to prevent parents from attending school board meetings.
      
• Since then, parents have called on TASB to leave the national group, in part by putting pressure on local school districts. More than 20 states’ entities have already left the NSBA.
      
• TASB’s executive director, Dan Troxall, informed members late yesterday of the decision to leave NSBA. He wrote: “While we acknowledge that improvements have been made under NSBA’s new leadership, it’s clear that those efforts don’t go far enough at this time to overcome the operational deficiencies and lack of internal controls outlined in the investigation report.”

Abbott Extends COVID Emergency

• With little fanfare, Gov. Greg Abbott renewed his emergency COVID declaration for another 30 days. Texas is one of only 21 states continuing to operate under COVID emergency orders.
      
• As Texas enters the 27th month of the governor’s COVID emergency, most Texans have moved on. Gov. Abbott has not. On Sunday, Abbott declared “a state of disaster continues to exist in all counties due to COVID-19.”
     
• Nationally, 29 states have already ended their state emergency health orders.
     
• How soon until the politicians whip up a fresh batch of monkeypox hysteria? And how long will that “emergency” last?

Straus Returns to Fund Establishment Candidates

• Former liberal House Speaker Joe Straus of San Antonio has spent $15,000 this past week funding establishment candidates through his Texas Forever Forward political action committee. Sydnie Henry has the story.

Grassroots Organizations Announce Runoff Endorsements

• As voters head to the polls today, two of the state’s leading grassroots organizations have issued their final endorsements and recommendations in the Republican runoff.

Grassroots America – We The People

• The Tyler-based organizers of Grassroots America – We The People released their final list of endorsements in the Republican primary.
   
• GAWTP has endorsed incumbent Railroad Commissioner Wayne Christian over challenger Sarah Stogner, an oil and gas attorney. In the open-seat race for land commissioner, GAWTP endorsed Dr. Tim Westley over State Sen. Dawn Buckingham. The group did not make an endorsement in the attorney general race pitting incumbent Ken Paxton against George P. Bush.
     
• GAWTP has also made endorsements in nine of the 17 legislative runoffs.

True Texas Project

• In the attorney general race, True Texas Project is in favor of incumbent Ken Paxton over challenger George P. Bush. While it originated in the Metroplex, the organization now operates in more than a dozen counties around the state. 
   
• In the railroad commission race, TTP has recommended Wayne Christian over challenger Sarah Stogner. The organization recommends State Sen. Dawn Buckingham for land commissioner over Dr. Tim Westley.
     
• The True Texas Project has also made recommendations in 14 of the 17 legislative runoffs, as well as numerous local races around the state.
