Dear friends,
California is facing both a housing crisis and a climate crisis, linked by policies that make it harder to build homes near existing jobs, schools, and transit, and easier to build sprawl housing.
We need a greater commitment to “win/win” solutions, like increasing the development of infill housing. Infill development helps us build more homes where people want to live — and reduce climate pollution from long commutes.
We’re asking the State of California to invest $5 billion over the next 3-5 years into the Infill Infrastructure Grant program — which is the state's primary source of funds for infill-oriented infrastructure like utility improvements, public transit, and safe streets.
Can you email the State Legislature and ask them to provide $5 billion for infill development?

The state’s nearly $97 billion budget surplus provides a critical opportunity to help build safer, more climate-friendly housing. If committed, these funds will be focused on areas with the highest potential to create more homes in walkable, transit-accessible communities.
If you support building more homes in dense, walkable neighborhoods, take a moment to email your legislators in support of this budget allocation.

Together, we have the opportunity to secure billions of dollars in new funding for sustainable homes — but we need people from all corners of California to email their lawmakers in support.
Thank you for your support, and we’ll keep you posted on our priority legislation.
Gratefully,
Robyn Leslie
