Friday on MSNBC’s Deadline ([link removed]) , Rep. Adam Schiff ([link removed]) (D-CA) said that the House Select Committee investigating January 6, 2021 will show that former President Trump is the instigator, author and architect of a coup on that date.
Asked about Trump’s role, the congenital liar Schiff continued, “In my point of view, he is in the author and the architect of this plan to overturn the election in this coup attempt masquerading as a legal strategy. After all, he is the chief promulgator of the big lie, and that big lie is used around the country to try to get states to send bogus electors, fake certificates of electors. He is involved in this. He is calling state legislatures. He is calling local election officials. He’s strategizing with Eastman and others. He’s the instigator and the author of and the architect of this effort to overturn our elections culminating in this violence on January 6. So you can’t ignore the principal player here.”
Schiff added, “There are a lot of others players, too. Our goal is to expose the role of all who are involved and the fragility of our democracy. The main reason it remains so fragile is because of the active participation of the head of today’s Republican Party, Donald Trump.”
This partisan political theater, promoted by the state media organ MSNBC, is all moot, since there literally was no attempted “coup” to overturn the election. Indeed, the real “big lie” is not the accusation that the 2020 presidential election was illegitimate, but that Trump and his supporters have tried to overturn the election results by force.

** Schiff Says Senate Failure to Impeach Trump Resulted in 50,000 American Deaths from Coronavirus

In an interview ([link removed]) with MSNBC’s Chris Hayes on April 24, 2020 — at which point the U.S. death toll from the Chinese coronavirus pandemic had reached 50,000 — Schiff claimed that those deaths were due mostly to the fact that the Senate had failed to remove President Trump from office during the impeachment trial in early February:
“There is one thing that, really, I have to say haunts me from the trial… [E]essentially, house managers, you’ve proved him guilty [sic]. Does he really need to be removed [from office by the Senate] after all? We have an election in nine months. How much damage could he really do? And we posed that question to the Senate and we answered it by saying that he could do an awful lot of damage but frankly, Chris, I don’t think we had any idea how much damage he would go on to do in the months ahead. There are 50,000 Americans now who are dead, in significant part because of his incompetence, because of his inability to think beyond himself and put the country first. I don’t think we would have ever anticipated that his brand of narcissism and his brand of incompetence would be so fatal to the American people.”
