Mary Gay doesn’t like to toot her own horn… so allow me to for a minute…
Have you heard of the COMPETES Act? This act will help provide the funding we need to compete in science, research, technology and innovation on an international scale.
The COMPETES Act has passed the House with TWO amendments from Mary Gay. A different version of the bill has passed the Senate, and Mary Gay has been asked by Speaker Pelosi to be one of the lead negotiators on reconciling the two bills! Do you want to see it on the President’s desk? Instantly add your name now!
Let’s talk brass tacks: what does the COMPETES Act do?
➡️ Authorizes $45 billion to strengthen our supply chain and help restore resilience in American manufacturing
➡️ Advances investments in science, research, technology, and innovation
➡️ Promotes America’s leadership on the global stage by strengthening human rights and investing in diplomacy
Mary Gay took initative to improve this important legislation and added two amendments: one provides grants to build five centers for undergraduate students to take hands-on, research-based courses, and the second creates a new initiative to designate cities as innovation hubs to lead in technological developments.
Mary Gay knows that STEM technologies and the STEM workforce must be larger in order to meet the challenges we face. In order to compete on the world stage, we must invest in our students and create opportunities in technology and innovation.
More to come!
