Late last Friday, a federal judge in Louisiana blocked the Biden administration from ending Title 42 — essentially ordering the government to continue expelling people seeking refuge at the southern border.
This cruel policy with racist and xenophobic origins blocks Black and brown people at the border from seeking asylum. But through it all, our position hasn’t changed: restoring asylum to ALL who need it is a racial justice issue, which is why Title 42 must end now!

This isn’t the first roadblock we’ve faced since the Biden administration announced plans to end Title 42:
First, Texas Governor Greg Abbott led a despicable publicity stunt in response by bussing migrants to Washington DC.
Then, a bipartisan group of senators teamed up in an attempt to force the Biden administration to reverse course by including Title 42 in critical spending bills.
But now, we are supporting the Biden administration’s efforts to appeal this backwards decision in the courts. Because despite what one Trump-appointed judge in Louisiana had to say, experts from the CDC and public health officials agree there is NO scientific basis to deny migrants the right to seek asylum.
Friend, this won’t be the last time Title 42 is weaponized by anti-immigrant groups to inflict pain on Black and brown asylum-seekers. That’s why your support is so critical as we prepare to fight back.
