To me, it comes down to this:
Women should be allowed to make their health care decisions without Mitch McConnell's voice or Brett Kavanaugh's face haunting them at their OB-GYN appointments.
Shame on those who want to take us back to the pre-Roe back alleys.
Shame on those who don't dare regulate guns, but want to regulate our uteruses.
I will push with everything I've got to keep women out of those back alleys. It is the least that those who came before us and won these rights deserve. And it is the least that our own daughters need.
Enough with the hypocrisy. Enough with the misogyny. Enough with the men in hallowed halls in Washington, D.C., arguing that they know more than women in Illinois or Arizona or Missouri.
We can and we must do better. That is what I am committed to fighting for in the Senate, and that is why I need to ask you today:
We must prove that we care about women every day of the year, not just on one Sunday in May. That means codifying Roe v. Wade into law immediately.
But earlier this month, every single Republican — a vast majority of them being men — blocked legislation to codify women’s constitutional right to choose.
I will never back down when it comes to abortion rights. And right now, it's important that we defend and expand our roster of pro-choice Democrats in the Senate in order to protect the future of Roe v. Wade.
Thank you for contributing today so I can continue fighting for abortion rights in the Senate.
