Folks,

Over the past month, I’ve been working hard in Congress to advance the COMPETES Act – legislation that will protect domestic manufacturers. I am proud that I was selected as a key negotiator to ensure the package will spur innovation, create jobs, and build a strong and diverse STEM workforce.

For the past few years, manufacturers have been suffering because of a nationwide chips shortage. This has dramatically impacted not only the auto industry, but Michigan’s small to midsize manufacturers as well. The COMPETES Act would address the shortage by providing funding to American manufacturers in order to incentivize domestic production.

Not only will this create jobs, investing in chips will make us less reliant on foreign markets subject to disruptions like Covid-19.

Manufacturing has inspired the trajectory of my career. As a proud Michigander, I’ve witnessed firsthand the impact manufacturing has had on our state and economy, and I’ve made it a personal mission to protect domestic manufacturing as much as I can.

That’s why I became invested in the automotive industry. I was honored to serve as the Chief of Staff to the U.S. Auto Rescue Task Force under President Barack Obama, where we saved over 200,000 jobs right here in Michigan.

If signed into law, the COMPETES Act would have groundbreaking results in Michigan and across the country. This bill is an investment in our people and will lay the foundation for the next century of American leadership in technology and innovation.

I’m fighting tooth and nail for our manufacturers, but I need your help to keep up the fight. Will you chip in $25 or more today to help me win a third consecutive term and make history in MI-11?
