ASBN is continuing it work to convene our members and allies to craft our recommendations that we will send to the White House Office of Science and Technology (OSTP)

On April 4, 2022 the White House Office of Science and Technology (OSTP) published in the Federal Register a Notice of Request for Information (RFI) from the Public on Federal Programs and Activities in Support of Sustainable Chemistry. ASBN sees Sustainable Chemistry as an essential element in our efforts to create a just and sustainable economy. We intend to comment to OSTP in support of a definition for Sustainable Chemistry that embraces safe chemicals, just and equitable distribution of benefits from production and use of chemicals, just and equitable remediation of past harms, and sourcing of chemical raw materials from regenerative systems.

June Events

Wednesday, June 1, 1pm ET - Searching for the Soul of Businesses- A Conversation with Alan Murray & Jeffrey Hollender | ASBN Live

Join the American Sustainable Business Network co-founder and CEO Jeffrey Hollender for a 1-on-1 conversation with Alan Murray, CEO of Fortune Media and author of the forthcoming book Tomorrow’s Capitalist: My Search for the Soul of Business. Tomorrow’s Capitalist is a report from the front lines on how corporate CEOs—the ultimate pragmatists—realize that they could lose their “operating license” unless they tackle the fundamental issues of our time: climate; diversity and inclusion; and inequality and workforce opportunity. Responding to their employees and customers who are demanding corporate change, they have taken the lead in establishing some bold new principles promoting “stakeholder” capitalism, ensuring that for the first time in more than a half a century, it’s not just shareholders who have a say in how corporations are run.

Episode 20 - Regenerative Agriculture & Climate Change
“Regenerative” is one of the new buzz words right now—though many of us are not sure why it is important and how it relates to our life and work. Today, you will learn why regenerative, organic agriculture is important to the earth and its inhabitants. Further, you will have a chance to explore how you can incorporate the practice into your investment, business or educational pursuits. Held just six weeks after COVID shut down much of the US, this conversation looks the disruption in our food supply chain, and at the moment many of our organic suppliers were facing unprecedented adversity that threatened their future.

This conversation was led by Nancy Rosenzweig (Values Aligned Capital) featuring Mark Retzloff (Co-Founder of Horizon Organic Dairy, Aurora Organic Dairy, and Alfalfa’s Markets), Phyllis Van Amburgh (Founder, dharma Lea); David Barber (Co-Founder/Owner, Blue Hill; Founding Partner, Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture); Jean-Charles Morisseau (Chairman, Cleante, Ubees, and Veilleur de Nuit).
