Dear John, I’ll keep this short because the video below is the most important part of this email. Recently, WOLA team members Adam Isacson and Lesly Tejada traveled to the US/Mexico border in order to stay connected to our partners on-the-ground and analyze the situation of immigrants and asylum seekers in that region.
They were able to conduct important meetings with high level officials both on the US side of the border, as well as in Tijuana, Mexico. As they note in this video, people arrive at this border crossing from all over Latin America and the world fleeing violence and seeking refuge in the United States. Because the policy Title 42 is still in effect, they cannot enter the safehaven of the United States and must instead wait in Mexico or their home country – in often dangerous or even unlivable conditions – until their day in court arrives. This can take months which puts them in a precarious and often dangerous position.

WOLA’s advocacy work takes aim directly at harmful policies like Title 42 and advocates that it be revoked immediately so that everyone who arrives at our borders seeking peace and safety are allowed to do so. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. Muchas gracias, |
