REGISTER Long Bridge Rail Capacity Expansion Project Long Bridge is the two-track rail bridge across the Potomac River, which has become a bottleneck for trains moving through the region. Virginia has been working on an expansion of the bridge to four tracks. This would allow for more tracks in Virginia, enabling a major increase in both Amtrak and VRE service. The Virginia Passenger Rail Authority is applying for a $300 million federal grant, and the Chamber wrote a letter to the US Department of Transportation in support of that funding.
