[email protected] IRC REPUBLICAN PARTY CHAIRMAN Jay Kramer The underpinnings of socialism and Marxism is that the ruling group gets to dictate what is right and wrong and how people live in society. Although we are still technically a representative Republic, it is clear that a movement is underway by those in power to destroy our culture and our economy by redefining what is right and wrong and expecting us to change the way we live. Clearly, a major component in their planned culture change is the destruction of the family; the family unit has been in place for thousands of years and is responsible for the success of mankind throughout this time. The Communist Manifesto clearly calls for the abolition of the family and the private property that sustains it. How else can you explain the move to eliminate the distinction between male and female through the push for transgenderism or really multi-genderism? The “follow the science” crowd has decided that individuals can determine their own gender from among some 57 varieties and assigns those physical characteristics that clearly separate men from women indiscriminately to these new genders. The idea of what a boy or girl is should not even be in question; chromosomes determine sex and there are only two outcomes. Individuals are being targeted for admitting the obvious and people can now be canceled and prosecuted for not accepting the craziness of this transgender agenda. These dictators are attacking the defenseless, endangering children in rest rooms, destroying women's sports, pushing racial hatred and needless sexualization in our schools, and dehumanizing unborn children. If we let them get away with this, who knows what the next step will be? This is a war that is underway in our country. We need to take a stand, let them know that what they are doing is wrong and that we will not go along with it, and in fact, we will fight against it! GOVERNOR RON DESANTIS Appeals Court Reinstates Governor's Congressional Map On Friday a Florida court of appeals reinstated a stay against a circuit judge’s presiding that blocked the congressional redistricting plan put forth by Gov. Ron DeSantis, allowing his map to be used in the upcoming November elections. The decision is predicated on the legality to terminate Florida’s 5th Congressional District, a winding and arbitrarily drawn area put in place to help elect a Black member of Congress. DeSantis in recent months claimed that maintaining the district invokes racial gerrymandering and violates the Equal Protection Clause of the U.S. Constitution. “Based on a preliminary review, the court has determined there is a high likelihood that the temporary injunction is unlawful,” the court order reads. “Because by awarding a preliminary remedy to the appellees on their claim, the order ‘frustrated the status quo, rather than preserved it.” Florida state judge Layne Smith in an initial ruling last week granted a preliminary injunction on Florida’s new congressional map, preventing the governor’s map from being used in the upcoming election cycle. The lawsuit sought to halt the implementation of Gov. Ron DeSantis' self-drawn map, which dissolved Florida’s 5th Congressional District, which is held by Democrat Rep Al Lawson. The lawsuit alleges the map violates Florida’s Constitution and the voter-approved Fair Districts Amendment by reducing the strength of Black voters. The governor initially sought legal counsel from the Florida Supreme Court earlier this year as to whether his proposed redistricting plan would be valid in accordance with the Fair Districts standard, though the request was not granted. “An opinion from this Court in the middle of the legislative process would necessarily interfere with the Legislature’s exclusive authority to craft the laws,” Florida’s Supreme Court said in a legal filing. “While the maps the Legislature might enact remain entirely hypothetical, the threat that the Request for an advisory opinion will draw the Court into the legislative process is not hypothetical. The Legislature is understandably reluctant to act when this Court might issue an opinion affecting its map-drawing powers.” Gov Announces Record Budget Surplus as Florida's Economy Outperforms Nation Governor Ron DeSantis announced that Florida continues to outperform the nation in economic success. Due to Florida’s strong economy, the state has been able to make record investments in education, infrastructure, and other programs while increasing our State Reserves. Florida’s reserves will close out at more than $20 billion for this fiscal year and Florida’s revenues have exceeded pre-pandemic estimates by more than $8 billion. No money from the Federal Government is included in Florida’s record $20 billion reserves. Florida employers have added jobs for 24 consecutive months and the state unemployment rate has remained below the national rate for 17 consecutive months. Florida’s April 2022 unemployment rate was 3.0 percent, down 0.2 percent from the previous month and lower than the national rate of 3.6 percent. “By keeping our economy open, maintaining a low tax environment, and being fiscally responsible, Florida’s budget reserves have never been stronger,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “While Washington, D.C., has consistently gotten things wrong, Florida has consistently done things right.” “Thanks to Governor DeSantis’ leadership, our state continues to outpace the nation in labor force growth,” said Department of Economic Opportunity Secretary, Dane Eagle. “DEO is proud to support the Governor’s mission by offering unique and innovative workforce development opportunities that bolster our competitive industries.” The Governor also highlighted Florida’s record-breaking tourism data that showed Florida had 36 million visitors between January and March of this year. This is a 14 percent increase over the fourth quarter of 2021, and it is the third consecutive quarter that Florida has surpassed pre-pandemic levels. Additionally, in 2021, Florida expanded its market share of overseas travelers to 44.6 percent of the nation’s total. This is the highest market share of overseas travelers that any state has ever achieved and is more than 20 percentage points higher than second place New York which had 22.3 percent of the market share. It also is more than 10 percentage points higher than the previous record of 34.1 percent, which was held by New York. The Governor made these announcements while visiting Retro Fitness in West Palm Beach. Retro Fitness moved to West Palm Beach from New York and New Jersey in order to continue operating and opening gyms in the face of unprecedented lockdowns during the pandemic. Retro Fitness’ gyms in Florida have outperformed their gyms anywhere else in the country and the company plans to open 100 more locations across the state. Governor Signs Legislation Cracking Down on Opioid Dealers and Traffickers Governor Ron DeSantis signed into law HB 95, which enhances penalties for the sale and distribution of opioids in Florida, including fentanyl. “Floridians of all walks of life have witnessed the destruction caused by the opioid epidemic across our state,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “While the Biden administration has failed to stop the flow of dangerous drugs, including fentanyl, across our southern border, we are taking action in Florida to lower both the demand and the supply of illicit and illegal drugs.” “Earlier today, I held an assembly at a school in Kissimmee to heighten students’ understanding of the dangerous and life-altering effects of substance use and abuse,” said First Lady Casey DeSantis. “Our initiative, The Facts. Your Future., not only tells our youth to say no to drugs, but also teaches them why. I am proud of Governor DeSantis for signing into law enhanced penalties for the sale and distribution of opioids today. We’re committed to tackling this problem from all angles and striving for a drug free Florida.” “There is a reason why Florida is safe,” said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd. “It is safe because of our Legislature and because of our Governor leading the way. 116 people in Polk County alone last year died from just a small amount of fentanyl. We have a Governor who cares for you and wants to make sure that the sellers pay a price. When we have these pieces of legislation and you agree to sign them into law, you personally are saving the lives of hundreds or thousands of people across the state and we appreciate it.” “From day one, Governor, you have been steadfast in your commitment to look at this opioid epidemic from a very wholistic approach,” said Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma. “You cannot address this problem without holding the drug dealers accountable to the fullest extent of the law. I want to thank the leaders and sponsors of this bill and the Florida Sheriffs. This bill and this effort will save lives and I thank the Governor for you and your team and the work that you do.” “When we think of fentanyl, we think of the addicts and the dealers, but what we forget sometimes are the other victims in this crisis: the families and the children,” said Polk County Fire Rescue Paramedic Tom Konze. “As a first responder, with the signing of this bill today, I believe we are one step closer to solving this crisis.” “I lost my 23-year-old son to a fentanyl overdose in July 2018,” said Mike Itani, parent who lost his son to fentanyl. “He was a normal kid, involved in sports, nothing abnormal. A lot of people think of people that have passed away from an overdose, they think of them as junkies, but they are everyday normal people just like us. I truly believe that if you are intentionally giving somebody something that you know is going to kill them, it is a murder. Hopefully, this will help other families in the future and get some of these guys off the street.” HB 95 implements recommendations of the Statewide Task Force on Opioid Abuse, which was created by Governor DeSantis in 2019 to develop a statewide strategy and identify best practices to combat the opioid epidemic through education, treatment, prevention, recovery, and law enforcement. Specifically, the bill: Adds methamphetamine to the list of specified controlled substances which, if the substance causes the death of a person, can subject the person who distributed the controlled substance to a conviction for first degree felony murder. Enhances the penalties for the sale of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of substance abuse treatment facilities. Increases the mandatory minimum sentence for trafficking fentanyl from 3 years to 7 years for 4-14 grams, and from 15 to 20 years for 14-28 grams. Florida Bans Demonstrations Outside Private Residences Governor Ron DeSantis has signed a bill aiming to ban protests in front of a private residence, violation of which will lead to jail time and fines. The new legislation, signed on Monday, makes it a second-degree misdemeanor to protest in a manner that is aimed at intentionally harassing or disturbing someone in their home. Violators face 60 days in jail and fines of up to $500. Protesters can only be arrested after ignoring law enforcement’s orders to disperse. The governor said the new law will prevent protests in Florida like those waged by abortion rights activists in front of homes of US Supreme Court justices outside Washington, D.C. The law is scheduled to take effect from the first day of October 2022. “Sending unruly mobs to private residences, like, we have seen with the angry crowds in front of the homes of Supreme Court justices, is inappropriate,” Governor DeSantis said in a statement. “This bill will provide protection to those living in residential communities and I am glad to sign it into law.” Democrats have objected to the move, arguing that it’s a violation of first amendment rights. The bill comes after the Senate passed a bill last that would expand protections to the immediate family members of Supreme Court justices as protestors in recent days have gathered at their homes amid the row over the preservation of abortion rights. The demonstrations outside the Maryland and Virginia homes of the justices were sparked by the leak of a draft majority opinion earlier this month that indicated the high court may overturn its landmark 1973 Roe v Wade decision. ATTORNEY GENERAL ASHLEY MOODY AG Moody and Federal Communications Commission Announce New Robocall Investigation Partnership Attorney General Ashley Moody and the Federal Communications Commission have officially teamed up in the fight against robocalls. A new Memorandum of Understanding between state and federal robocall investigators establishes critical information sharing and cooperation structures to allow both agencies to better investigate illegal caller ID spoofing and robocall scams nationwide. The MOU will allow the Florida Attorney General’s investigators to access information that may have been previously unobtainable and will assist with ongoing efforts to protect Floridians from scams involving illegal robocalls. Attorney General Ashley Moody said, “By combining efforts and utilizing FCC resources, we are bolstering our fight to stop scams involving illegal robocalls. This new state-federal partnership will allow our office to more quickly obtain information to expedite and strengthen investigations—while eliminating any duplicative efforts. We share a common goal with the FCC to protect consumers from robocall scams. This new partnership will help us both advance this important mission.” Federal Communications Commission Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel said, “The FCC and state leaders share a common enemy: robocall scammers targeting consumers and businesses around the country. My team’s commitment to protecting consumers fits hand-in-glove with state Attorney’s General ongoing efforts to combat these scams. We share a goal—to protect consumers—and, with agreements like this, we can also share the tools needed to achieve it. I thank state leaders for their cooperation and their dedication to enforcing strong consumer protection laws.” During investigations, both the FCC’s Enforcement Bureau and state investigators collect and analyze records, talk to witnesses, interview targets, examine consumer complaints and take other critical steps to build a case against possible bad actors. This partnership will provide critical resources for investigations preventing duplicative efforts in protecting consumers and businesses nationwide. The FCC offers partnering states not only the expertise of its enforcement staff, but also important resources for state investigations. For example, the MOUs may facilitate relationships with other federal agencies and robocall-blocking companies, and provide support for critical investigative tools, including subpoenas and confidential response letters from suspected robocallers. CONGRESSMAN BILL POSEY Congressman Posey's Statement on the Infant Formula Shortage “Last night the House voted on legislation pertaining to the ongoing baby formula shortage in areas across the United States. For months, the Administration and the FDA have known about the possibility of a serious baby formula shortage, but very little was done to prepare for it. I support fixing this problem and voted for a bill to address the needs of those who depend on the WIC program for baby formula. I opposed legislation to give the FDA even more funding above the increase already authorized this year, without a clear and actionable plan. I have been a cosponsor of legislation to use the Defense Production Act to address this baby formula shortage, introduced bipartisan legislation to improve and enhance our critical supply chain issues, and supported efforts to increase manufacturing here in the United States. No amount of money can replace competent leadership and this Administration should start stepping up to meet challenges head-on or get out of the way.” SENATOR MARCO RUBIO Rubio Tells It Like It Is Sen. Marco Rubio argued Wednesday Democrats "like" that inflation is driving gas prices because they believe it will force Americans to buy electric cars. On "America's Newsroom," Rubio said the party is also using rising costs to push leftist talking points and call for more mass transit. "I think there are people in their party that actually like it. They're not going to say it. They don't want to get crushed in the next elections, although I believe they will be. But they like the fact that there's inflation and high prices. They believe the more expensive oil and gas gets the more people are going to buy electric cars. Well, not everyone can afford an electric car right now. We don't have enough electric cars, and the batteries for those electric cars are made in China." Marco Rubio blasts Democrats over record gas prices, inflation: 'They want this' | Fox News Unity - We must do it!
