CHAIRMAN'S
MESSAGE
Historic funding
for Florida cancer research
Almost
every Floridian has known someone afflicted with the scourge of
cancer. It is virtually tied with heart disease as the leading cause
of death in the state.
Governor
DeSantis knows this as well as anyone as First Lady Casey DeSantis is
a cancer survivor. And so, putting Floridians first as always, he and
the First Lady announced $100 million for cancer research and care in
the coming year — a 60 percent increase from this year.
“Cancer
remains a leading cause of death in Florida, and we will continue to
support those fighting this deadly disease,” said Governor Ron
DeSantis.

Protecting
Floridians from protesters at their homes
After the
leak of a ruling that would overturn Roe v. Wade, we all watched in
dismay as protesters tried to intimidate U.S. Supreme Court justices
at their homes — at the instigation or indifference of Democrats and
their media allies.
But we
won’t tolerate such anti-Americanism in Florida. Governor DeSantis
signed HB 1571 this week, which prohibits picketing and protesting
outside of a person’s residence. Such residential picketing will be
punishable as a second-degree misdemeanor.
“Sending
unruly mobs to private residences, like we have seen with the angry
crowds in front of the homes of Supreme Court justices, is
inappropriate,” Governor DeSantis said.

$125 million for
more nurses in Florida
The nursing
shortage nationally is well known, which is why Governor DeSantis and
the Republican Legislature are proactively adding $125 million for
nursing education for the coming year. This brings the total
investment in workforce education funding to more than $5 billion
since the Governor took office in 2019.
This new
funding will include student loan reimbursement and scholarships for
nurses, expanding infrastructure at nursing colleges, and salary and
recruitment incentives for nurses.
“We are
investing in quality nursing education to increase the number of
programs and jobs that prepare students for careers in nursing,”
Governor DeSantis said. “We want to continue to support these
front-line heroes.”

$3.2 million for
manufacturing support in Okaloosa County
Governor
DeSantis announced $3.2 million to Okaloosa County this week to expand
roads, rail lines and utility infrastructure at the Shoal River Ranch,
an industrial mega site. This investment is expected to bring more
than 11,000 jobs to the Okaloosa County region.
“Today’s
grant will lay the foundation for a dramatic expansion of
manufacturing in Okaloosa County,” Governor DeSantis said.

Enthusiastic crowd
greets Senator Rubio in Seminole County
Senator
Marco Rubio spoke at a grassroots event in Seminole County where Team
Marco opened a field office.
"What's
happened in the last 16 months Democrats have been in charge? Gas
prices today are almost double what they were at this time last year,"
Senator Rubio said. "We have inflation...which was fed by $1.9
trillion in wasteful government spending in March of last year, passed
down the partisan line by Democrats... We have a baby formula shortage
in America. In the United States — we're not talking about a
third-world or a developing country or even a war zone — in the United
States of America, because of incompetence. They knew this was going
to be a problem last December, they did nothing about it.”
Moody calls out DHS
chief Mayorkas for lying about the border
Attorney
General Moody was on Fox Business with Maria Bartoromo this week and
lit into the Biden administration and DHS Secretary
Mayorkas.
“When he
said they are enforcing the law, that is a lie, an outright lie,”
Attorney General Moody said. “The lengths to which this administration
is going to cover up the disaster at the border is astounding, and we
have seen this from the beginning…This is a purposeful undermining of
the border and a purposeful coverup.”
More than
234,000 people crossed the Southwest border in April — the highest
ever. Yet Biden and Mayorkas are planning to end Title 42 next week,
which by their own numbers will literally double the number of
crossers, the Attorney General said.

CFO Patronis
announces anti-fraud initiatives for Special
Session
Florida’s
home insurance market is in crisis and Florida Chief Financial Officer
(CFO) Jimmy Patronis is proposing five initiatives targeting fraud for
the upcoming special session that Governor DeSantis called for
insurance reform. A top proposal is to stand up three Anti-Fraud
Homeowner Squads requiring 23 news positions for detectives,
attorneys, and analysts.
“As area
policyholders know, Florida’s insurance market is in trouble. We are
seeing more private carriers exit the market, and we’re seeing
Citizens Insurance policies grow,” CFO Patronis said. “Florida
communities are under attack by fraudsters who are willing to try
anything to game the system.”

LG Nuñez predicts
“red tsunami” in November in Florida
Lieutenant
Governor Jeanette Nuñez told Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade that Democrats
are “delusional” if they actually believe they can flip Florida blue
in the upcoming midterm elections. She said rapidly increasing support
from Hispanic voters will help create a "red tsunami" in
November.
