Thousands of young children from regions across Ghana — many under the age of 10 — have been separated from their families and trafficked into forced fishing labor on Lake Volta, Ghana’s largest man-made lake.
Beyond the fear and abuse these children face, the risk of drowning is constant as they are forced to dive deep into dark waters to untangle fishing nets. Many working long hours at night and early in the morning.
Help rescue children from modern
slavery on Lake Volta and worldwide.
Together we can rescue victims and restore the lives of survivors rescued from Lake Volta. With your support IJM is working closely with authorities in Ghana and sending rescue teams onto the water to find and rescue children who have been trafficked on the lake.
Beyond rescue, your support today will help meet the urgent needs of survivors, including providing safe housing, food, medical care, counseling and education.
We walk alongside survivors until they are fully restored — and we are grateful to have you walking alongside us. Please give to help send rescue to more children on Lake Volta and around the world.
