ADOPT THE ELEPHANT FAMILY ( [link removed] )

With your help, Born Free has campaigned to end the global ivory trade for 33 years. It’s been a mammoth journey!

Four years ago today, the UK government finally bowed to public pressure to curb the UK’s trade and introduce the Ivory Bill. The ban on trade comes into force on 6 June 2022 – a momentous celebration for Born Free and elephants.

Despite this, poaching for their ivory tusks remains wild elephants’ biggest threat. In the last 100 years there’s been a deadly decline:
1922 – 5 million1779 – 1.3 million1989 – 600,0002022 – 420,00092% lost in the past century!

But at Born Free we believe there’s something special about elephants. If you agree, help protect them by adopting our Elephant Family today ( [link removed] ).

Alongside their immense size and strength, elephants are super intelligent and sensitive family animals. They protect each other in the face of danger, care for their sick, even mourn their dead. A jumbo solution to climate change, these mega gardeners play a critical role sustaining the ecosystems we need to store carbon.

Yet, we kill them for their front teeth and steal their babies for sale to zoos. When you adopt today ( [link removed] ), you’ll help fight the ivory trade and keep elephants safe in the wild where they belong.

Wouldn’t that be ele-fantastic?!

From your friends, Born Free
