MCRGO Moves to Instagram
MCRGO is aware that our youngest members are less likely to use Facebook than people age 30 and older. At the December 2021 Annual Meeting the organization established a Gen Z Workgroup to address the needs of this newest generation of gun owners. This spring MCRGO asked the Gen Z workgroup for its recommendation for social media expansion to supplement (not replace) our Facebook presence. The answer it provided is Instagram.

Instagram's focus is on photos and short videos with the possibility of captioning text. Instagram is already in widespread use. It is relatively free of user quarrels compared to other social media. Content is easier to produce than for TikTok and requires much less time commitment from viewers than YouTube videos or podcasts -a critical point for Gen Z. Perhaps most importantly for MCRGO, Instagram does not heavily moderate firearms related content.

MCRGO's Instagram account can be found HERE. Our hope is to have the bulk of its future content be provided by members with motivation for submissions in the form of membership credit. Three months membership credit will be provided for every submitted photo MCRGO posts. Six months membership credit will be provided for every video posted. Full details including submission instructions and guidelines can be found HERE or by clicking on the Instagram logo at MCRGO.org.
