Message from the Barnet Wellbeing Service about annual health checks for people living with mental health conditions

The Barnet Wellbeing service are encouraging people living with mental health conditions to have regular annual health checks provided by their GP.

It is recommended by NHS England that these health checks happen once every year as they can reduce the risk of developing physical illnesses.

They would like to invite you to book your physical health check.

At a physical health check, the GP will:

· Check your blood pressure.

· Measure your height and weight.

· Test your blood glucose for risk of diabetes.

· Check your blood cholesterol levels.

· And ask some questions about any smoking or alcohol habits.

Your physical health is just as important as your mental health.

They will be at various locations in Barnet to engage with the public, promoting the importance of this message - details of which will be published across their social media channels.

Please email their Health and Wellbeing Manager Kolsum if you have any questions or would like to support this project in any way.

Share your views on the future of the NHS 111 and out-of-hours service in North Central London. Message from NCLCCG.

North Central London Clinical Commissioning Group is at the start of a programme of work to award a new contract for the NHS 111 Integrated Urgent Care service starting in October 2023. Integrated Urgent Care (IUC) describes a range of services including NHS 111 call handling, clinical assessment and GP out-of-hours services. Planning for this has started with the aim that the future service will be developed based on the latest national guidance and the identified needs of our local population.

They are conducting a survey to understand residents’ experiences of using the NHS 111 IUC service. They also want to find out about the barriers that may prevent people from easily accessing the IUC service and why people may choose to attend emergency departments rather than contacting NHS 111. The survey will close at 11.59pm on 19 June 2022. You can access the survey here [[link removed]]. (Hard copies are available on request by calling 020 3688 1905)

Survey feedback will be taken into consideration when the new service is developed to ensure improvements are made if needed.

If you have any further comments, email [[email protected]] and they will ensure your feedback is considered within the re-procurement programme.
