First, please permit us to wish each of you a Happy Thanksgiving. We hope everyone had a day filled with family, friends and fellowship.
 

Thanksgiving reminds us to count our blessings. In this spirit we’d like to remind you of those who aren’t as lucky in the blessings department. At any given time, the Fairfax County foster care system supports nearly a thousand children which includes hundreds of teenagers.

 

For years now, the Fairfax County Democratic Committee's Annual Foster Teen Gift Drive has ensured that every Fairfax County foster teen has received gifts of choice for the holiday season, birthdays and graduations.

 

It’s a pleasure to be the honorary co-chairs of this gift drive.  Through our years of government service, we know how much it matters for these teens to feel valued.  They need to feel that someone’s on their side.

 

The county social workers have asked the foster teens what they’d like for the holidays if a willing donor could be located. This is where you can help. You may accept either a foster teen’s entire wish list or a portion, depending on your budget.

 

Foster teens often reside in group homes.  Sooner than later they face emancipation, without having found the love & support of a permanent family.  And their wish lists to the Democrats can be the only specifically requested gifts they receive all year.

We are each sponsoring a foster teen and we hope you, your friends & family will as well.
