We saw in the Texas primary elections how confusing the Republicans’ new voter suppression law is and how many hurdles it put in front of voters who want to have a say in our state’s future. 13% of all mail ballots were rejected in March’s primary elections, while just 1% were rejected in 2020. The new law is working exactly as Texas Republicans hoped it would.
These efforts to make it harder to vote coupled with extreme gerrymandering is Texas Republicans’ strategy to help them maintain power in November. We can’t agonize, we must organize.
