Hi all,
We have exciting news!
Â
We raised $5,619 Tuesday night at the Seattle DSA Labor Committee hosted Labor Notes Fundraiser at the Clock-Out!
Â
(Shout out to Mel, Sunny, Stephanie, Justin, Chris, Liz, and everyone who donated for making the event a success!)
Â
We’re helping to pay for 4 Starbucks workers and 10 Seattle DSA members airfares and hotels for 3 nights in Chicago to attend the Labor Notes Conference. I don’t know if you’ve looked at tickets lately, but the prices are soaring! Inflation and the War in Ukraine are sending them sky high!
Â
To get these Starbucks workers and DSA members to Labor Notes, we need to raise more.Â
Â
Every dollar invested in this struggle tips the scales in favor of Starbucks workers, Amazon workers, Verizon’s workers, REI workers - workers across industries who are watching what's happening in these historic campaigns.Â
Â
Can you donate $15, $27 or $100 to tip the scales in favor of workers?
Howard Schultz and Starbucks are willing to do whatever it takes to defeat the unionization drive, they’re willing to spend whatever it takes to ensure the profits keep flowing. We can’t match them dollar for dollar but what we can match is the willingness to do what’s needed to help win this.
Seattle is the hometown to some of the biggest, most rapacious corporations in the world. We can have a unique impact here. When the Starbucks workers unionized the Seattle Roastery - where Howard Schultz gets his coffee - that inspired other Starbucks workers. Seattle and the surrounding area has had the highest concentration of Starbucks strikes in a single geographical area.Â
But to take things to the next level, we need your help.
Â
Can you pitch in?
Â
A $500 donation will pay for a hotel room for 3 nights for 4 peopleÂ
$250 will help pay the airfare for a Starbucks workerÂ
$100 will help pay a registration fee
$27 by 10 people will help pay for 2 nights for a Starbucks worker
In solidarity,Â
Â
