Team –
Enough is enough.
Every day, over 100 people lose their lives to gun violence. Last weekend alone saw multiple mass shootings – including at a church here in California. Too many communities and too many families have been torn apart.
These incidents are heartbreaking, and too often politicians – particularly those who don’t support common sense gun safety measures – fall back on platitudes and claim that there’s nothing we can do to end mass shootings.
I refuse to do that. In California, we lead the nation on gun safety laws, including bans on large-capacity magazines and assault weapons which I’ve defended. I’ve also filed a lawsuit to hold major ghost gun kit manufacturers and retailers accountable, to help ensure that these weapons don’t fall into the wrong hands.
And just recently, we announced that we seized nearly 1,500 firearms and over 329,000 rounds of ammunition in 2021 as part of the work of our Bureau of Firearms staff and Special Agents who investigate individuals who are legally prohibited from owning firearms.
But we can’t stop there. The time to act is now, and I’m committed to continuing the fight against gun violence. I’m proud to be designated as a Gun Sense candidate by Moms Demand Action and endorsed by other organizations working to end gun violence, including Brady PAC and Giffords PAC. I will not stop working to make our communities safer.
Thank you,
Rob Bonta
