We’re grateful for a lot of things: Nurses, caregivers, patients and patient advocates, activists, political leaders with a backbone, and YOU (just to name a few). We’re NOT so grateful for things like Big Pharma, the health insurance industry, health care lobbyists, and this hit piece:

While Congress uses the health care crisis to play political football, people are dying. It’s not a game — it’s a travesty. And yet these political “leaders” refuse to put forth any real visionary plans to fix it.
Fortunately, there are people out there who understand, like we do, that Medicare for All is the solution. People like you and our brave patient allies who’ve been working nonstop to win this fight. And today — on a day when we gather to give thanks — I’d like to take the opportunity to thank them and highlight their stories:
Thank you to Matt and Cokie, for the bravery they showed in sharing their harrowing story about insulin rationing with the world.
Thank you to Ola, who survived a heart and kidney transplant at the age of 12, and now works to ensure that no one else ever needs to choose between their school supplies and health care.
Thank you to Sandy, a neonatal nurse practitioner who has seen first-hand the dangers of our current system, and uses her experience to fight for a better one.
Thank you to Rebecca, who had to forego her own medical procedures in order to get care and treatment for her daughter, Charlie.
And lastly, thank YOU. You’ve always been by our side in this long battle for Medicare for All. And we’re gaining ground every single day — the existence of this hit piece from The New York Times is proof that our work is leaving a mark.
But no matter how much ground we gain or how often the pundits and “leaders” dismiss what we do with their political triangulation, we must remember why we’re in this fight to begin with.
We must remember — today and on all days — that in the richest nation in the history of the planet, there is simply no excuse for letting this health care crisis continue.
Every day, when we knock on doors, we hear thousands of heartbreaking stories across the country just like the ones I listed above. Families from every corner of America are affected. And they understand, as we do, that the only solution to this broken, corrupt health care system is Medicare for All.
Gratefully,
Jasmine Ruddy
