Team,

Next door in Texas, we’re witnessing what happens when a far-right extremist is in power.

This month, Texas Governor Greg Abbott cost his state a major commercial railway expansion with Mexico, a loss that will cost billions of dollars in trade and hurt the relationship between Texas and their top trading partner. Thanks to his incompetence, New Mexico and our district stand to benefit.

Abbott tried using trade as a political tool by calling for more extreme anti-immigrant policies, so Mexico changed their plans. Now, Texas’ loss is New Mexico’s gain, with Mexico planning to route this trade railway through Santa Teresa, NM.

Extremists like Gov. Abbott and NM-02’s Rep. Yvette Herrell have put their far-right partisan politics ahead of the people they were elected to serve. When I’m in Congress, I’ll always make decisions with the best interests of the people in mind.

I have direct experience with international trade and business development. As a field representative for U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich, I worked with private industry, the state of New Mexico, and the federal government to support a pilot program that would allow for the private reimbursement of extended hours at the Santa Teresa Port of Entry to increase economic opportunities and competitiveness for southern Doña Ana County.

NM-02 needs a leader committed to doing right by them and creating more good-paying jobs and economic opportunity in our communities. Help me replace Herrell this November and be that leader for New Mexico in Congress: chip in $10 or more to fuel our grassroots campaign.
