I know our campaign sends a lot of emails your way, so I wanted to take some time today to tell you about my decision to run for Congress back in 2018 – and why your support today is so important to our success.
I first decided to run for Congress because I was inspired by the many grassroots voices that stepped forward to defend our common values after the 2016 election. I decided I needed to be part of that movement, and I knew I could stand up for North Texas values, fight against special interests and work to deliver real results for the people of TX-32, the district where I was born and raised.
I knew running for Congress would be a long, tough battle. I also knew that when North Texans work together, we can do big things. But when you’re looking to unseat an incumbent who had been serving in Congress for 22 years, you quickly realize you’re going to need support from thousands of folks you haven’t even met yet, especially when you reject corporate PAC money like I did.
You might know how this story ends. Together we flipped this district in 2018, won re-election in 2020 and now we’re fighting to hold onto our House majority in November.
Texas Republicans are leading the way in trying to stop our progress and take us backward. From passing voter suppression laws to nearly banning abortion. We can’t allow Republicans to take the House Majority and implement these disgraceful measures on a national level. If we’re going to defeat them, I’m going to need y’all with me.
