John,

Today, I was honored to accept the DFL endorsement as your candidate for Attorney General of Minnesota. We’re running full speed ahead to win this race in November so we can continue working together to help Minnesotans afford their lives and live with dignity.

We are at a pivotal moment in history. From a global pandemic to the January 6 attack on our nation’s Capitol to the murder of George Floyd and the racial reckoning that followed to facing a world without Roe v. Wade.

This moment is testing our strength. It forces us to ask: How do we chart a path forward? Our Republican opponents want you to lose hope. They want to pit us against each other, restrict our right to vote, end our right to choose, make corporations more powerful, and the middle-class weaker. 

But we’re not going to let that happen. We’re going to fight for the Minnesota we know and believe in – the Minnesota where everybody counts and everybody matters. 

We believe that when you call 911 in a crisis, you should get the help you need. We believe that investing in strong communities makes for safe communities. We believe that everybody should earn a living wage.

We believe that you should be able to get the healthcare you need without going bankrupt. We believe that you – and only you – have the right to control your own body. And we believe that every Minnesotan – of every race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and ability – should be treated with respect. 

That’s what I’m fighting for and will continue to fight for as long as I have the privilege of serving as your Attorney General. But I won’t sugarcoat it. This year’s midterm election is going to be the biggest test our movement has ever faced. And just like every challenge we’ve overcome, only people-power can get us across the finish line.

When we look back, let it be said that we didn’t shrink from this moment. 

Let it be said that we stood up tall against division, fear, and despair. That we stood for unity, safety, and hope. That we did not agonize – we organized.
