We all want sunscreens that are safe and effective, but EWG’s analysis proves they aren’t always easy to find. 15 percent of the more than 1,800 products EWG scientists reviewed this year contain oxybenzone, including about a third of the non-mineral sunscreen options. Mounting evidence links oxybenzone to hormone disruption, and it may increase risk of breast cancer and endometriosis. Kids may be especially vulnerable to harm from oxybenzone. The good news is you can find safe and effective sunscreens without oxybenzone by checking out EWG’s Best Recreational Sunscreens and our list of Best Sunscreens for Kids and Babies!
