The Biden Administration is Crushing American Energy Production
I spoke on the House Floor this week about President Biden's continued assault on American energy, which has caused gas prices to skyrocket to levels never seen before. Yet President Biden and Congressional Democrats are attempting to shift blame for soaring energy costs onto Vladimir Putin and American energy producers despite the fact that their green energy policies have caused the price at the pump to rise so much that families can't even afford to drive to work.

Just last week, the Biden Administration announced the cancellation of three more offshore oil and gas lease sales off the coast of Alaska and in the Gulf of Mexico. This decision effectively ends any chance that an offshore lease sale will be held this year.
At a time of record inflation and energy costs, the Biden Administration once again chose higher gas prices by pushing their anti-American energy agenda at the expense of hard-working families.
Lease sales are required by law and critical for establishing short-term stability and long-term predictability in oil and gas markets. This egregious failure by the Biden Administration shows they are more concerned about bowing down to their leftist anti-energy radical friends, and their failures will only exacerbate the pain families are feeling at the gas pump.
This decision not to hold lease sales sets America back further from reclaiming energy dominance and increases inflation by making us more dependent on foreign countries like Russia and Iran for our energy. President Biden needs to reverse his failed anti-American energy agenda and start putting the needs of the American people in front of the desires of the radical left.
Honoring America's Law Enforcement Officers
This past week marked National Police Week, a time for Americans to come together to show our appreciation for the men and women who protect our children, fight crime, and uphold public safety. Our nation's law enforcement officers are the primary defenders of our communities, and supporting them should not be a political issue.
During the last week, I was able to host Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joe Lopinto and members of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office in my D.C. office. We discussed Sheriff Lopinto's priorities for deterring crime in Jefferson Parish as well as policies at the federal level that will help assist our law enforcement communities in South Louisiana.
I also penned an op-ed in the Washington Examiner with Rep. John Rutherford (R-Fla.) on Peace Officers Memorial Day honoring the service and sacrifice of fallen police officers. We stressed the need to defend our officers who face an onslaught of attacks every day from the radical "Defund the Police" movement, which has weakened police departments and left law enforcement officers feeling demoralized.
Celebrating National Maritime Day
Tomorrow marks National Maritime Day, and we celebrate the thousands of maritime workers in Louisiana who are the backbone of servicing American goods throughout the United States and global markets via our waterways.
This week, I enjoyed meeting with representatives from American Waterways Operators to discuss the importance of upholding the Jones Act, which remains critical to America's national security and protects our waterways from unknown foreign threats. The Jones Act strengthens our naval capabilities and prevents foreign ships from roaming through our inland waterways.
It is an honor to represent you in Congress. For more information, please visit my website, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook pages.
